Christopher Leopold

Way back in the late 1980s I stumbled upon this book, and found the premise (a group of WWII German soldiers driving around Germany in a truck with a mobile gas chamber, visiting psychiatric hospitals to gas all of the inmates) an unusual approach, even as a black comedy.

The authors ("Christopher Leopold" being a non de plume for a couple of English chaps) try hard but throughout "Looneyhime" there are not enough laughs to make one lose the creepy feeling that this a book about the Holocaust. Of course, had it been funny, all would have been forgiven and I would have happily laughed my way through the Holocaust.… (meer)
