Because I am a special education teacher, I read a lot of books like this one; over time, I have built a long reading list of treatises on neurological function and learning. This, hands down, is better than any five titles combined on my professional development shelf. Indeed, this is the best one-volume book of its kind I have encountered: humane, articulate, and cogent, it will occupy a scarce permanent place in my library. If you are a parent or teacher dealing with one or more struggling learners, you owe it to yourself and to your child to read this excellent book.… (meer)

The Myth of Laziness by Mel Levine is a thought provoking book. It has a collection of stories about children with issues involving productivity. There are eight basic issues that a child or adult could have and this book lists those issues. Following that section it contains helpful advice and hints on things necessary to build a better brain as it were. Dr. Levine states that there is no such thing as laziness, hence the title of the book, and all people have a yen to produce and be productive.

I only wish that I had found this book earlier on in my life.… (meer)
