As a reader who is not generally a fan of angel based books, I was a bit wary going in to Until Next Time. They have a tendency to be a little heavy handed in the religion department most times. I'm happy to say that Amy Lignor's book was an exception to that rule. Although Matt and Emily's story is of course religiously based, it doesn't overshadow their own intriguing plot line. Lignor allows the reader to meet some of the more prominent names in the bible, each in their own interesting and sometimes even adorable ways.

What I really liked about this book is that it is actually two stories in one. The point of view skips between Matt and Emily when they are in heaven, and their human counterparts on Earth. Each one keeps a small part of themselves when they are sent down, but it is only at home that they are truly themselves. I loved seeing how the things they learned on Earth changed them inside. Having an angel's point of view on what happens in our own day to day lives was interesting, and sometimes even heartbreaking.

The romantic elements of this story are perfectly done and believable. Lignor gives her angels the opportunity to experience free will, and the choices they make really shape the story line. I loved both of the men who come into Liz and Faith's lives. They compliment each one just wonderfully. The true love that blooms between Liz and Jason is beautiful and honest. It is these true emotions that let the story really shine off the pages.

In a nutshell, I really did enjoy Until Next Time. I had a few gripes with some small things, mainly dealing with point of view. It's tough sometimes to feel comfortable switching between heaven and Earth with the angels. However there is so much more in this story that really allows it to shine. If you are a fan of angelic lore, or if you enjoy a good love story, this is one to give a shot.

What is life about, and how much control does fate has over us? For Emily and Matt they were born for a purpose as Angels and are soul mates. They were taught by the famous archangels Gabriel and Michael. Amy Lignor does a beautiful job creating this world for these angles to live in and gives you a new look at what the archangels are like; gives them a bit of personality. Right off the bat Amy grabs the readers attention with a battle between the two destine lovers after their mission on Earth which Emily sees as a failure on her part, but the archangels do not see it that way.

This tale is a tale about love is all in the grey. Emily and Matt are sent to Earth to be people who have left their shells. The book is about their journey as people, when they are people they do not remember their lives in Heaven creating the mission to be harder. When Emily is in her new life she meets Jason who turns her world upside. Amy is able to use words to illustrate these beautiful scenes, (I want to go to Ireland eventually so I might be slightly bias…) and considering that this is a time piece the readers are transported to this new world completely. I’m a history major so conversations kind of threw me off, I might have been spoiled by Outlander, but the dialogue seemed too modern for 1810. One issue I had other then the dialogue was Daniel seemed to flip flop personality a little bit more then there should have been though I get his confusion, but then there was a quick switch both happened later on in the book. I got a little confused in the grey area of love and soul mates. The book was a little vague at a couple parts, but otherwise this book is a girl power, witty, fun book for any reader. Amy Lignor created a creative book that leaves the reader waiting for the next installment.

Where to start… Until Next Time is a story that everyone should read. It touches on so many points of life, that even if you aren’t a believer, you can still enjoy it. This book is filled with the power of love, both God’s and human, but it also dredges through sorrow, pain, and the never ending questions humans face every day.

We meet many characters throughout the book, but Liz/Emily really is the main one. While we see the world through the eyes of so many others, there wouldn’t have been a story at all without her. She is a bit feisty at times, questions decisions, but always does what she feels is right. This even means breaking commandments such as murder.

Emily isn’t exactly human, though, she is an angel sent to Earth to take over the life of a tortured soul: Elizabeth. But she hasn’t the knowledge of her angel life, only the power. Liz has led a horrific life, losing her parents at a young age, and spending most nights in nightmares where her physical body is bloodied and bruised. Only two people are privy to this though, one is her childhood friend Daniel, and her “sister” Faith.

One night two strangers enter her life that will change her world forever, both worlds in which her soul lives. Liz must fight through the human emotions to make the right decisions before she runs out of time. At the same time her soul is screaming to be reunited with the one it claims to love. Can Liz do what is right, and still keep her faith? Or will she make poor decisions that hurt those she loves most?

Ok, here is the part where I tell you to go read it already! You know you want to, right? I can’t do this story justice as there is so much going on. Sure there is an epic love story hidden in these pages as well as plenty of suspense, but the real story is about love on all levels. From friendship, to romance, to loving God, and even family love – it’s all there!

I laughed, I cried, I smiled, and I felt my heart touched by this story. Even when Emily/Liz had to wait to be reunited with her true soul mate, I felt a flutter. The pain she went through each day of being apart from him must have been pure torture, and I’ll admit it’s a feeling I never want to have. Young, old, single, married, widowed, and so on, this book was written for you to ease your soul, and lift your heart.

The only fault I can find is that when the author went back and forth between Earth and Heaven it got confusing in some places. I think that both stories needed to be told, but in some places I felt it happened too quickly. Others may not notice it, but I felt it best to note it. Otherwise I commend the author for an excellent story, plot, and some very well developed characters!

This was a delightful read. I loved the Charles, he was very witty and cocky, but in a good way! My one issue with this book, is that there was a lot of explination concerning Liz (main character) and Matt (her soulmate), and why things are the way they are. Though, the explinations were vital to the story, it made some parts kind of dry. I fully expect that the second book to have more character interaction and action because that part will be out of the way.
