Great book!! I have never heard of Marla Frazee so this book helped me learn more about her and her life. I enjoyed reading this book because I thought it was interesting to get to know about a significant person that I did not know about before. I was even able to see some of her illustrations since she was an artist and got to learn more information about her life and where she was from. This book also gave information on some of her different pictures.

I specifically chose this book because my daughter is one of Mo Willems’s fans. She loves his books so much, so she enjoyed reading this book with me and learning a lot of information about his life. This book uses appropriate language for young readers. I liked that the book contains many pictures of Mo Willems at various ages. Kids will enjoy seeing their favourite writer when he was a baby and seeing a picture of him when he was about their ages. I also liked the including of Mo Willems’s famous picture books that most of children love with the information about and how he created theses books. This book would be a perfect choice for author study. The author provides a glossary for new words in the back of the book.… (meer)

SUMMARY: This book talks about many famous poets such as; Wallace Stevens and Edna St. Vincent. The book also looks at how poetry has changed over the years.

MY REACTION: I was shocked about how much poetry has changed over the years. I didn't kmow that poetry went back to the 1910s. I was excited about reading some of the famous poets work because I use to write poetry myself.

CLASSROOM EXTENSIONS: 1. Have the students write a short poem of their chose.
2. Have the students get in a group of 2 or 3 and have the others try to figure out what the other was trying to say in the poem.
3. Have the students pick one poem out of their group and share it with the rest of the class.

This is a great and detailed biography about Marla Frazee. This book is full of facts about her life and career. I really enjoyed the section "In the Studio" which talked about the ways she illustrates her picture books. This is a very kid friendly biography. This book works a lot on vocabulary expansion and I really like that.
