This was a quick read (about an hour). It had a meet cute/clumsy that was adorable. Darren and James fell, quite literally, in love in the space of a short layover in Johannesburg. I believed that the intense almost holiday vibe helped their relationship move faster, and with a sense of urgency that it might not have had at home.

In book 1 the whole reason James was on the flight to Johannesburg was because he'd swapped flights with his roommate, Max, who was too hungover to fly. In book 2 (West Coast) we follow Max to LA. This book is more angsty (and longer) than the first. Max has issues that seem to resolve in him drinking too much, and then making bad choices in the men he picks up. Over the course of the story, and with the help of Antonio, the rugby player he picks up in a bar when he's sober, Max makes steps towards realising his self-worth. I liked Max and felt sorry for the way his life constantly seemed to screw him over. I wasn't as fond of Antonio, I found him quite manipulative a few times earlier in the story, but he was good for Max and seemed to lose that quality later on.
This book also included a really cute side pairing of Danny (another flight attendant and part-time drag artist) and Brandon (the owner of the bar). This helped counteract the darkness in Max in the early part of the story.

Solid writing from the established authors, as expected, with all but Sue Brown writing an existing pairing.
Of the new authors, I found most of the stories to be of a good quality. The majority were cute contemporary stories with a solid dose of cupid, while one actually featured a couple of cupids.
All in all an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours even if February is long gone :)
