Silvio Manno was born in Calabria, Italy, and grew up in Milano where he graduated from the Technical Institute of Tourism. He immigrated to the United States in 1976, later earning an MA in Linguistics from California State Univerity, Fresno. Manno worked as a bilingual elementary school teacher toon meer in Fresno for many years and is fluent in Italian and Spanish. He is now retired and pursuing his lifelong interest in Italian immigration history. Manno is the author of The Forestiere Underground Gardens: A Pictorial Journey. toon minder
