This seems like a good guide to decision theory, although I haven't read any other books in this field. The author mentions that this book is based on his lectures and I think the book clearly reflects that. There's not a lot of sustained and elaborate argument, it's more like a collection of bullet lists with three or four summary points on each topic of interest. Maybe that's what the word "primer" in the title indicates. Still, the book is fairly theoretical with no reliance on historical examples. But it's certainly not overwhelmingly abstract, the theories could be easily applied to many real-life decisions in a straightforward way. Perhaps the one thing that disappointed me was that there were hardly any references at all (again, maybe that's because the book is based on lectures) so this book will not help you find more reading material in the areas that interest you the most.… (meer)
