Emilia Marryat (1835–1875)

Emilia Marryat was the third daughter of Capt. Frederick Marryat, a Royal Navy officer and writer and his wife Catherine, and the younger sister of Florence Marryat and Augusta Marryat, who also became writers. Her parents separated when she was a child, and she was educated at home. She became an author of children's adventure novels, including Temper (1854), Henry Lyle (1856), The Early Station in Life (1867), Paul Howard's Captivity and Why He Escaped (1876), The Stolen Cherries, or Tell the Truth at Once (1869), and The Sea-Side Home and the Smugglers' Cave (1875).
