Paula Marshall was born in Leicester, England. After finishing school, she worked as a research librarian, and later wrote and lectured on local history. After her children started school, she worked as a part-time lecturer in English and general studies. After four years of teaching, she was toon meer required to get a degree. She received a first class honors BA in history at Open University. After retiring, she started writing historical romance novels. Her first novel, Cousin Harry, was published in 1991. Her other works include The Lost Princess, The Devil and Drusilla, An Innocent Masquerade, Jack Compton's Luck, and The Daring Duchess. (Bowker Author Biography) toon minder

Started out great. Too bad it didn't stay that way.
Miss Jesmond's Heir was a good read and kept me interested. Has more grit than the typical regency. I would have appreciated an epilogue though.
While Charles Shadwell, Viscount Halstead is running away from an arranged marriage and the stresses of running an estate rather than following his dreams of either being a scholar or a soldier. He's beset by bandits and stumbles into the estate of Nell Tallboys, Countess Malplaquet, without a memory but with skills that help the estate. Slowly but surely love builds but can Nell marry a man with no name and with a mysterious past. Can she forgive him what he said when she discovers the truth.
I liked the story, somewhat different from many run-of-the-mill regency romances and liked the character of Nell Tallboys, she really is a strong female who really did take the world and the bull by the horns.… (meer)

Jess Fitzroy is inspecting the land bequeathed to him by his aunt Miss Jesmond. He comes across a youth and two children playing cricket on his lands and when he reprimands them he discovers that the youth is actually the widow Mrs Georgiana Herron. After some initial misunderstandings they find themselves quite attracted to each other, but can they trust each other with their secrets?
It's pretty typical of it's type but I was quite entertained by the characters.
