Easy enough to read, lots of interesting detail, but 1) not very challenging, 2) a glossary and/or diagrams were needed for those of us who have yet to build a dam, 3) it would have been more interesting to see the author take a stance and not ride the fence.
This was a very interesting book to read. It was almost like reading an episode of CSI. This book goes back and forth between the boigraphy of Ludwing Van Beethoven and a group of scientists (including Che Guevara) that have bought a strand of hair of the german composer that has been passed though generations in musicians' families. the book is full of pictures of DNA tests, scientific research and photographs revisiting places where Beethoven had been.

Coincidentally, Martin was standing in from of "Guernica" on September 11th, 2001.
The biggest surprise for me was learning of Herbert Southworth, an unsung hero of the Guernica saga. He had a clerical job at the Library of Congress and he was convinced he could get to the bottom of who actually bombed Guernica. Despite denials, he needed to convince the American public of Franco's threat to Democracy.… (meer)
