- She majored in journalism at the University of Iowa, and her first job after graduation was as Women's Editor at the Register Republic and Morning Star in Rockford, Illinois.
For 26 years she taught journalism at St. Ambrose University, and she has published more than 30 books. Four of her plays have been produced by community and junior theaters. She was very active in her community and traveled with her husband to far-off locales.
