Religion and Society in England, 1850-1914 door Hugh McLeod
This book describes English society in the period 1850 to 1914 as divided into 5 groups: Anglicans, Nonconformists (non Anglican Protestants), Jews, Roman Catholics and Secularists, and says that in this era these groups had a substantial influence on society.
Second edition (the first edition only went to 1970) covering a period of of "widespread revolt" against the established religions of western Europe -and at the same time a period of intensified religious loyalties for those who continued top support the traditional religions.
