Of course I loved it and plan to give copies to others! We honeymooned there in 1969 and while middle son and wife lived in Metairie, I visited just before Katrina. This book reminds me of all of the things about NOLA and southern Louisiana that I love as both a travelog and a learning experience.
Ben Collins has just the right balance of enthusiasm and caution to be perfect as narrator.

Do you know what travel guides to Louisiana are missing? Scratch 'n' sniff. I could almost taste the barbecues and the gumbos, but not quite. (And I can't tell you how badly I want to wrap my face around a muffuletta sandwich!)

Anyway, I downloaded this to research the 'bayou experience' of Louisiana, and felt like I really got a sense of the people, music, rivers, swamps, wildlife - and food! - thanks to Ian McNulty's enthusiastic guide. Some of the chapters were personally more involving than others - fishing doesn't really do it for me, and I don't share the author's passion for animal by-products - but history, scenery, culture and cuisine are all here.
