This short and sweet story of a young child and his mother leaving the country as refugee talks about the experiences and emotions they will face as they leave their home and travel to a new home. This story uses simple language and descriptions that gives enough understanding for young learners without being innapropriate or too intense. I would use this book in PreK-Kinder to be able to give some insight about the lives of other children in the world and build world empathy.
This book would be good for children grades 3 and up. This book is about a little kid where they explain that just because he is a refugee, doesnt mean that is his name and it doesnt define truly who he is
