Jim Mullen

Now this is humor. Such a delightfully funny book, I laughed out loud at times. It's not just funny sometimes; it's funny in almost every paragraph. Jim Mullen is a very fine writer. He and his wife live in Manhattan. She buys an old house 3 hours away in the Catskills and drags Jim there on weekends, which become longer and more frequent stays. This is Jim's hilarious conversion from total immersion in city life to country life, kicking and screaming all the way. The people of Walleye, the country town that is their new home, are lovable and pragmatic and don't think much of flatlanders. Some of the humor is subtle, so be sure not to miss anything.

If you live in New York or have lived there, or have visited there much, this book will be even funnier to you.… (meer)

This was a free download from Amazon to my Kindle. It was a quick read for me and I found myself laughing out loud . It was so funny that I read some of the shorter sections to my husband. I did not know who Jim Mullen was since any newspaper I have taken has never run his columns. 'Now in Paperback' is a compilation of some of his columns. Very enjoyable, well-written, just plain fun to read. It seems all Mr. Mullen has to do is keep up with the daily news and use his vivid imagination to write his next column.
