i desperately wanted to like this book. i loved the first part where the characters were introduced and the murder was setup. but then the mystery didn't build up from there and i lost interest soon after. the characters seem dissociated from me, and from each other, and from the story. the plot keeps loosing itself and loosing me. i cant really call this a detective mystery (not much detecting done) or a thriller (not a lot of thrills, too). and for all that, it was easy to guess the murderer.

the author can write atmosphere, though. maybe this could work better as a drama on screen?… (meer)

I enjoyed it, but I wish that I'd read the first in series. Not too late, though.
Welcome to the world of those who live Mardi Gras all year long. Except that this is only one club and someone wants it gone. One performer disappears, and another one is dead under suspicious circumstances, the detective seems singularly useless, so Fi is tasked with solving it all. Good sleuthing and excellent world building. Some of the characters could easily be found in clubs where I live. Very well done.
