Twitter-sized review: A "why not to date a musican" story seemingly patterned after this list: http://agrammar.tumblr.com/post/1127991128/offended-by-rank-objectification-of-w.... Funny and adorable

Longer Notes: I actually liked this better than Miss Bubbles Steals the Show, perhaps because I found it much easier to identify with the music journalist protagonist and musicans than I could with the actress protagonist. Echo is a little more driven and in some ways little less hapless, while still feeling very fallibly human in a romance-protagonist sort of way. But the real sell of this book is how incredibly funny it is. Seriously, it's like the author took this list about writers [see link above] (or some similar one about musicians) and brought it all to life in living colour. (I could see this as a movie, easily!) It's incredibly adorable and hilarious and I most definitely recommend this one if you're looking for a bit of fun.… (meer)

Okay, I admit it, I totally picked this up because of the hot pink cover and goofy title, and I admit to being intrigued by the idea of the starving young actress in New York suddenly being upstaged... by her star-quality cat. Our heroine, despite constantly being down on herself, really does make a great effort to improve her life and I found her actually rather endearing because she was so willing to keep trying, even when all she wants to do is drink too much and dream up fairy tale endings. It's cute and even though it's a tad predictable, it's in that way that feels comfortingly familiar (who *hasn't* wished for a fairy tale ending on a bad day?) Maybe not a must-read, but a relaxing one if you want a playful, quirky story about life, love and art in the big apple.… (meer)

As a big fan of Chick Lit, especially Red Dress Ink, I tend to read a lot of these type of books. Good Times, Bad Boys is definitely worth picking up. It is the story of Echo Brennan, a music journalist for a small neighborhood paper in New York. She is desperate to land a job writing for the national Magazine, Disc. Her problems? Jack, the lead singer of the up-and-coming band, The Butter Flies, isn't exactly easy to pin down for an interview; others are also trying to get the same interview; and Matt, her boyfriend isn't exactly excited about Echo doing this interview. Matt Hanley was an up-and-comer himself.....4 years ago. He had a couple of hits and was tourning with big name bands. But writer's block has hit. Matt spends his days sleeping and mooching off Echo. Finally having enough of Matt's dependance, Echo breaks up with him. The upside? Echo doesn't have to enable Matt anymore. The downside? She still loves him....but apparently the writer's block is gone! Matt has a new CD coming out...all about his horrible ex-girlfriend, Echo!!

I really enjoyed this book, practically reading it in one sitting. Love and music...what a great combination!
