I have had this book for awhile and decided to read it recently. And, to my surprise it was wonderful and very informative. Told thru the eyes of a practicing witch doctor, who uses a combination of legend, folklore, mythology and southern African history to bring storytelling to a whole new level of experience. I knew little about southern African history however after reading this version of My People, My Africa (1969) I will read more on this magical group of people.

From this author I learned:

That there were a group of people led by a philosopher who mutilated their toughs and eventually developed a high degree of telepathy. Ba ntu is plural for Mu ntu which is singular for he who walks erect and that many of the Ba ntu tribes can trace their histories by way of their genealogies back to the Stone Age.

The southern African had a written language that was used by the southern areas tribes for business communications very similar to the Kemetic medu neter.

Like most African tribes else where over the continent the southern groups had a high level of administrative, spiritual, military for which women were an integral part of the leadership, and familial organization in addition to vast developments in astronomy, mathematics and sciences.

Read about the pale-skinned Ma-Iti who subsequently conquered hundreds only to be defeated by the great Lumukanda. The the slave trading mutt Munumutaba the Fifth whose empire along with the savage Arabi were taken out by the Nguni, Mambo, Xhosa warriors.

This is a must read for anyone who is interested in the ultimate in southern African history.
