This is probably one of the most useful books on my shelf. I am not CR, I am Wiccan. I bought this book for reasons I can't even remember, but I am really glad I did. It is arranged exactly like a standard FAQ. It has a section that plainly explains what CR is. The questions range from basic to more advanced. Questions about misconceptions, theology, ritual, and ethics are included. Then there is a good section about the differences between CR and other Pagan paths like Wicca and Druidry. Then there is a huge book list.
The book list is almost worth the price of the book alone. It's massive. Another thing that is a big reason this book is always sitting out is the pronunciation guide. I have several books with similar guides (and I know there are web resources), but this one is one of the best I have ever seen. The glossary is quite good too.
I really just can't say enough about how fantastic this book is. I guess I can't say that every Wiccan needs it - if you don't study up on Celtic myth then you would have no use for it. And the theology and ethics is an overview of course so it's not going to replace actual reading. But I do find that a lot of Wiccans are thoroughly unfamiliar with what CRs really do believe and what "it" really is all about. I think any Wiccan who honors Celtic gods would benefit from having this book on their shelf for the information that is contained in it. And honestly, if for no other reason than to better understand the CR religion.… (meer)
