This is the second book in a series. Chill is the first book I had not read the first so I was a bit lost with the very brief introduction to the characters. It is about the Morton children who live in an old mansion called Dunadd House and their friend Samuel who lives in the cottage on the estate. One day Samuel and Fiona discover a secret passageway through the chimney in Fiona's father's old Library. The passageway ends in a wall that they think is shared by Charles Morton. The two hear children talking and wonder if they are the ghosts of 2 children they saw in a tapestry in the same room. Then they start seeing apparitions and Samuel' s mother's artwork is vandalised with skulls drawn on all her artwork. Who is haunting them and why?

This book started off well enough but when it had the mother {SPOILER ALERT} feel the ghostly presence and decide to sell the house and kick Samuel and his mother out, and then the house burns downs, it seemed to me that the author got tired of writing the book and wanted it all to end and end quickly.
