Christian Marriage: A Historical Study door Glenn W. Olsen

I read this book because I wanted to understand how Jewish/Christian marriage has changed (or not) over the centuries.

In the current "culture wars" one often hears people say "Marriage has always been..." or "[My definition of] marriage has been going on for thousands of years." Is this really true?

The book does answer that question in an authoritative way. (At least regarding the ancient Near East and Europe in the Christian era.)

Be aware, this book is not for many people, since the language and assumed knowledge of history is challenging.… (meer)
