Bryant is a typical geeky kid with problems but they all get amped up when he discovers a cell phone that does magic. Chaos ensues as he (with the help of friends) figures out how to control the magic and keep it out of the hands of bad guys. Quirky and fun.

Maggie is a witch who falls into the Siren's Realm - where magic is the currency on trade and Maggie just wants to go home. She joins up with Bertrand who helps her understand how the Siren's Realm works and takes her on adventures. Good intro to this world and the beginning of the series.

Nola lives in a contained dome world keeping out the poison of a destroyed world. But people live beyond the domes, suffering from drug abuse that makes them effective vampires - or so she has been told. Nola is tempted to believe her friend Kieran, who was banished to the outside but tells a truth about the outside different than the official story. But even though things aren't what they seemed, she is still set up for betrayal. Interesting set up for the rest of the series.

I found the story entertaining enough, but ultimately not good enough to continue the series or even to remember what the plot line was about 12 months down the line. The story does make me reflect (again) on what is the right tack to take - tell someone what's going on but put them at risk, or keep someone safe and in ignorance. In Ena's case, her brother's actions didn't ultimately result in her safety. I enjoyed watching Ena face her situation bravely.
