Quite a phenomenal technical commentary on Amos. S. Paul does a great job explaining the context, history, language, and literature of this prophet. Does not bring the interpretation into the church, but if you're not expecting application, it's a top-notch resource.
Can commentaries get any better than the Hermeneia series? Shalom Paul covers grammar and morphology, interpretation and analysis in this comprehensive look at this 8th century prophet and carver of fig trees.
