- F. S. Pearson 2d says that he “was born of mixed parentage (male and female) and spent my summers terrifying the natives of the South Shore of Long Island in a variety of small boats. My first published opus was a tense, soul-stirring verse that appeared in St. Nicholas.” He graduated from Yale, worked on a Westchester newspaper, was a staff writer and then managing editor of Country Life Magazine, later became managing editor of American Home, and an editor of G. P. Putnam's Sons. He adds that he collects bills, his favorite recreation is not going to the movies, and that his hobby is money. [from Fractured French (1956)]
