I saw this book when making a list of good juvenile reads for Jewish American Heritage Month at my job. It seemed interesting to me, and though I’m not Jewish myself, I like to diversify my reading to experiences outside my own and found it to be a very touching story. I feel like outside of the religious theme, it’s also a story about how we have the power to effect the lives of others and can do simple things to help. I also found the illustrations to be very unique and to follow along nicely with the story.… (meer)

This book was fully unique. We have a queen and her feet do not live in shoes. Honestly, I don’t blame her. Her feet may want to play in the mud, run in the sand, or wear completely inappropriate shoes but the queen still has a job to do. After gathering as many people in the land that know anything about feet as possible, they’ve come up with a plan. What I really like about this book is the story is simple, but fun, but the illustrations. The illustrations remind me of some of the jazz sessions of Sesame Street. Things like the number song when they count to 12. That type of atlas illustration. Sometimes that type of illustration can feel old but in this book it the illustration feels unique and perfect for the story.… (meer)

This is a really cute (and surprisingly diverse for one family!) introduction to genealogy for kids. Readers can start at the front, with the dad's side of the family, or at the back, with the mom's side of the family; the two stories converge in the middle with a 2-page family photo describing everyone's connections to the narrator.

There are twins, a gay uncle and his partner, multiple interracial marriages, and a random neighbor kid who photobombs the family's picture.
