To much choping and changing characters ie lovers. This woman has no conscience morals just selfish. To leave her husband two children for a former lover ( who is using her to spy on her successful father in law). What are her morals or her goals?
Rather rapid last 40 pages to get a confused endind.

People spying on people, spying on people is the theme here. Everyone is trying to be all unwittingly sneaky, and there is just so much of it, it distracts from the story. Not only did I have to fight my way to the final bitter end, it left me thinking what did I just read? And not in a good way. I wish I could have enjoyed this book more, but a woman giving up her happiness just to be what she considers herself a badass spy just left a lot to be desired as she was never as sneaky as what she thought. Not bad but not what it says on the tin in terms of the publisher's publicity.… (meer)

Having heard Philby's comments on why she wrote a book on espionage and betrayal at the Bloody Scotland Crime Writer's Festival, I was eager to read the novel. It wasn't what I had anticipated but it followed that theme of how a woman betrayed her family and in doing so, betrayed herself. I found it a complicated read.
