Credited with giving fire to humanity, and teaching the people how to weave silk, the Yellow Emperor is considered the ancestor of the Han Chinese, and this brief book focuses on his conflict with his general, Chi You.
Although it provides a very concise introduction to the stories concerning this key figure in Chinese mythology, Wang Ping's narrative may be somewhat confusing for young children not already familiar with the subject. Excellent and worth rereading. My favorites seem to be journey-titled, although I didn't realize until later... Punctual Arrival, No Sense of Direction, Ultimate Passage.
