Cathy Porter (1) (1947–)

Cathy Porter has translated over thirty books and plays from Russian, including the late plays of Gorky, The Diaries of Sofia Tolstoy, and most recently, Dmitry Bykov's award-winning novel Living Souls. She has also translated with Peter Meyer four plays by Karel Capek from the Czech. She is the toon meer author of books about women terrorists in tsarist Russia, the political art of the 1905 Revolution, and Moscow in the Second World War. She is at present compiling a new anthology of Kollontai's writings for Haymarket Books, and is working on a second edition of her biography of Larisa Reisner for Historical Materialism's book series, to be published with her translations of Reisner's major works. toon minder
