This book discusses the origins of medicine in a way that is more geared toward older children, but still easy to read. It discusses how many medicines start out as plants in forests, and addresses the issues behind deforestation. A good informational book for students to better understand where our medicines come from, and a good introduction to holistic/natural remedies.

Full of information that is useful and practical, though certainly not really a captivating story. Pharmacy in the Forest is a good independent read for older readers. It is also a great introduction to holisitic health and healing. The pictures make the pages more interesting and the text is easy to read. Ages 10 and up.
