After graduating from San Diego High, she completed her Associate's degree at Pasadena City College (PCC). She worked at Bob's Big Boy across the street from PCC, first waitressing and then becoming a manager. There she met [her husband]. Midge gave up her restaurant work to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. She continued to write throughout the rest of her life, publishing some 25 mostly non-fiction books enjoyed by both young and old. In later years [Midge and her husband] acted on their love for dogs by founding and running the Canine Corral, a pet rescue kennel.
