Lilian Nancy Bache Price (1880–1970)

Lilian Nancy Bache Price, known as Nancy Price, was born in Kinver, Staffordshire, England, a daughter of William Henry Price, a retired farmer, and his wife Sarah Mannix. She was educated in her home village and in nearby Malvern Wells. She decided at an early age to become an actress. In 1907, she married actor Charles Maude, with whom she had two daughters who also became actresses. The family lived in the village of Findon in Sussex in a cottage on the Downs. In addition to her acting career on stage and screen, Nancy also published numerous books, including memoirs, autobiography, diaries, essays, as well as plays, poetry, and novels. For a time, she also managed the Little Theatre in the Adelphi, off the Strand in London. She was also a painter, musicologist, naturalist, and world traveler.
