William Lee Rand

A 1998 update from William Rand on the state of Reiki, both teaching and practice. Still omitting the symbols, Rand covers practice and teaching methods. Discussion is made of confusion between official or authentic Reiki teachings, and additions by current practitioners. This is a research piece, rather than a teaching manual.

William Rand has done extensive research, traveling to Japan, to find the true origins of both Reiki teaching and Reiki practice. This manual covers the first and second degree without including the symbols that are given at level II. Extensive treatment hand positions based on Hayashi's work are included. An excellent reference for any collection of spiritual or metaphysical healing techniques.

I've been attuned to both first and second degree reiki for nearly a decade and somehow only now am reading this basic manual. It does not give the symbols (a big advantage in my opinion) but does give the history of reiki along with a great deal of technique. No matter how long you've been practicing you're certain to learn something from reading this text, and I can easily see myself using it as a reference in the future.
