Sorry, couldn't finish this one. It wasn't just that the author had managed to say numerous times in the first 47 pages that science and religion are compatible, as if saying it makes it so (he did promise to explain that in a later chapter but I never made it that far). Never mind that he keeps saying that science tries to prove and disprove their hypotheses, when no scientists claims to prove anything. No, what got me was when he kept referring to the people who had written atheist books as people who had moved beyond their specialty into philosophy (and religion) - and included Daniel Dennett, a prominent philosopher, each time. Add that to the irony of a lawyer writing a book about science and complaining about other people speaking in fields in which they are not experts, and assuming that the only people allowed to speak about religion are theologians (something the average Christian in the pews on Sunday morning will dispute from here to eternity), and then consider the fact that the book is just a rehash of other books on the subject, often quoting verbatim from those other, better books, and there really is no reason to continue wasting my time on this work. There aren't enough days in my life to spend on it at the expense of all the other books still in my to read list (not to mention the new ones I just bought today).… (meer)
