A book detailing the exploration of Tibet, Mongolia and other central Asian locations in the nineteenth century is expected to be a gripping read, full of adventure and thrill. This book has none of it. Not because the exploration lacked these things, but because of the tepid way these incredible adventures have been presented.
Instead of being a cracking account of the achievement of these explorers, viz. Nain Singh, Kishen Singh, Kalian Singh, Hari Ram, Lala, Nem Singh, Kinthup, Rinzin Namgyal, Ugyen Gyatso, Mirza Shuja, Ata Mohammed and Abdul Subhan, this book reads like a list of places, distances and other geographical data.
The intent of writing this book deserves five stars, but the execution deserves nothing. It seems that nobody even proofread it...
The story of these great explorers and adventurers deserves a far better presentation.… (meer)
