We start off with how the war started over the segregation of blacks(mote this is huge factor in this book), and with the election of Abraham Lincoln(which will be The Union, and the South being the Confederacy) and Fort Sumter being attacked he starts the Civil War. There's over 1000 battles in the Civil War(which obviously i'm not gonna talk about them all),starting with the Battle of Manasses, Union general Irvin McDowell is told to advance on the confederate in which he is successful until reinforcements arrive. With much more battles we get to a battle where the union general says that the blacks in his army being really brave and honorable, even with one of those blacks being the first to earn the medal of honor. Then theres the battles everyone knows the battle of Gettysburg bein the most bloody battle of the war, also being the turning point in the war, it lasted 2 days with 3,155 Union, 3,903 Confederate casualties. Then we get the point of view for women and how some would pretend to be men to fight and become nurses, then theres how they have to deal with family members dying. Finally the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the rebuilding of the U.S but that goes terribly and there is still segregation.

In my opinion it will be a 4 but thats cause war is depressing but it really deserves 5. This is because it shows all points of wars even showing some letters written to loved ones.With cool illustrations and frankly great facts this book is awesome. It has these Biographys for important people in the war like Abraham Lincoln and most of the generals. If you wanna learn about the civil war than I highly reccomend it… (meer)
