- Virginia Rich was the creator of the widowed culinary sleuth Eugenia Potter. She was happily married herself, to cattleman Ray Rich; their daughter Susan Rich Sheridan is a noted art teacher. Rich's fan and fellow mystery writer Nancy Pickard has continued the Eugenia Potter "Cooking School Murder" series, working from the boxes of notes Virginia Rich had made of plans for future novels.

Visitng friends in Nantucket, Eugenia Potter discovers that many of them have fallen under the spell of a diet guru she doesn't quite trust and when a murder occurs she must learn who is threatened by the newcomers and why. Worthy entry in a good series.
When one of the students in the cooking class organized by Eugenia Potter is murdered, she finds herself looking at her home town and old friends with new eyes to try and find a killer who is only too willing to kill again. Good beginning to the series. A slightly less interesting setting than the later books.
Eugenia Potter's idyllic community in Maine is stalked by a ruthless killer. I love the characters in this book, but I'm not sure the motive for the murders make sense. Still, it's always a pleasure to read Virginia Rich.

Book starts out with her returning to the island and she finds her friends very thin and lacking in diet. Also some have died and she's on the trail of what is going on.
You are brought up to date about the womens past and their spouses and children as they all grow up around one another and spent many holidays together.
On their strolls they discuss architecture, widows finances, herbs that Tony is giving to others-it's an individual plan for each...
Like hearing all about the herbs and their combinations.
Recipes included at the end.
