James Robinson (1) (1963–)

Suffers from not having read the first volume AND leaving way too much for the next collection; don't have EVERY major figure in your book act so far out of character just because you're setting up the plot for a two-year long arc. On its own, this collection suffers for its inexplicable changes to Sue and Reed and Johnny (and only less so for Ben) which are dealt with in later stories but that extended storyline still makes for a poor read unless one reads it as part of an omnibus.

Very intriguing reboot of the Earth-2 characters with some great shifts/changes to 70 year old characters. My biggest question was why the cover so prominently places DC's Big Three when they're all gone from the story after 20 pages. Still, with some reservations, I highly recommend this work from this promising start.

Fascinating revamp/revisit of Earth 2 staple characters without the usual WWII backdrop.

I like a lot of the changes, but Terry Sloan as a villain just grates for me. Only bad note in the music here.
