Not a very good publication by Senate, an imprint of Tiger Books International PLC, Twickenham, UK. It is on lightweight paper that has discolored, and it does not reprint the photographed pictures at all well. On page 205 the author himself notes: "Many of these specimens are represented in this book by drawings which I have made, as photography does not give their blue lines well, nor the markings on skins."
It should be noted, however, that the book was first published in 1896. It reads more like a notebook than an historical treatise, but Mr. Robley can be forgiven as that is really what it is. Notwithstanding all that, the book has historical value.… (meer)
