Pat Ross (1) (1943–)

Pat Ross was born February 4, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. Educated in the Baltimore area at Hood College, Ross loosely began to develop a portfolio of manuscripts and illustrations in the spirit of children's books during her time at school. It was the interim period between education and professionalism, where Ross cracked the door on her artistic talent in children's literature. Her first book, Young and Female, published in the early 70s was an invite for the media to begin to change the image of girls and women in literature. This progressed into a bulky list of writing success, including the "M and M" series. Ross reflects, "Writing for children put me in touch with a part of myself and in touch with a kind of creativity that I don't seem to find anywhere else."
