Lots of information but not well-written. The earlier chapters in particular are rambling. But still an informative book.

Thorough examination of the history of herb gardens from Roman Britain to modern herb gardens. Beautifully illustrated using reproductions of paintings and prints, monochrome line drawings and b&w and colour photos.

Each main chapter split into lots of smaller readable chunks so though the book is text heavy it is neither dense nor impenetrable. Very engaging prose and forms a fabulous reference book.
