Karen Santorum is one of twelve children. By profession she is both a nurse and an attorney. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and worked for several years in a neonatal intensive care unit. Her Juris Doctorate degree is from toon meer the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was a Law Review member. Karen is married to United States Senator Rick Santorum. They have seven children: Elizabeth Anne, Richard John, Daniel James, Gabriel Michael (deceased), Sarah Maria, Peter Kenneth, and Patrick Francis. Her greatest role and love in life is being a full-time mother at home toon minder

A wonderful book for anyone looking to instill character traits and manners with their children through literature. The author blends classic stories and poems with contemporary authors. The book is thoughtfully divided in sections such as: dressing, caring for the sick, kindness towards animals, good sportsmanship, telling the truth, etc. The author includes a thoughtful introduction or post script to each piece which further illustrates the character trait, or etiquette lesson. This can be read to the child or used as a guide by the parent/teacher.

Personal reaction: I think this book is a clever way to teach values to children.
Classroom extensions: I could use this in a unit about manners. Another idea would be to have children use the table manners they learned at lunch time or snack time.
