This is an idea book as much as it is a "how-to" book. The book is filled with complete program listings that can be keyed in at the reader's keyboard and run. The programs were written before the IBM PC made its appearance in the marketplace. Therefore, the listings were more or less compatible with the Apple II, Commodore PET, and Radio Shack TRS-80 microcomputers.

The applications were grouped into several categories: Business, Financial, Mathematical, Technical, Scientific, Educational, Hobby, Recreational, Control, Artificial Intelligence, Utilities, and Miscellaneous.

The level of explanation accompanying the programs varies. There is the occasional flowchart, diagram, or illustration to guide the reader into a better understanding of what some of the applications do.
