This is an outstanding book. The stories are not "adapted" for children in dumbed-down language, rather they are edited for conciseness. Yes, this means you may have to do some verbal editing when reading to a preschooler, but it also means that you need not be embarrassed to read it or give it to a grade schooler (it would make a wonderful First Communion present!).

Each story is complete on a two-page spread with illustrations that are clear, colourful, and appropriate for all ages, not cutesy or babyish. The story is then followed by a very short prayer. There is also a suggestion for something more to read - usually a reference to another passage of Holy Scripture that continues the theme - and an activity. In addition, there are sidebars explaining topics that might need clarifying.

The length of the stories makes them perfect for bedtime reading, but the book would be equally useful for homeschool, Sunday school, or catechism teaching.… (meer)
