The DVD was on the shelf at the library branch, and I checked it out. I recalled that the movie had been favourably reviewed by the English fim critic Mark Kermode on the BBC Radio 5 program and podcast Kermode and Mayo's Film Review. (The review, broadcast October 11, 2019, is still online in an archive at the BBC at this time and available in many podcatchers; it is also archived and can by located by a search for archives. The show went off the air but continues as shorter podcast).
It is not related to the 1970 rock ballad "American Woman" by the Canadian group, The Guess Who.
The movie is as good as Mark Kermode said. The script and direction are very good; Sienna Miller gave and excellent performance in the lead role. The supporting cast, including actors known for the their work on "quality" TV Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men).… (meer)
