Piper Scott

It has been a very rare event when I have finished a 'final' book in a series and felt total contentment, and this is one of those unicorn events.
I find myself without questions and very happy with where the authors have left it. Their announcement that this would be "the final collaboration between Piper Scott and Virginia Kelly" - while anticipated and mourned - was also fitting with such a stunning final work.
Instead of my usual commentary on characters, world-building, and plot, I think a quote from the book will say it all - "He dropped to his knees amongst them, wanting to laugh, and cry, and be alone, and never be alone again. It was overwhelming, but it was good. So impossibly, wonderfully good."
One final comment - While I just cannot pick a favorite character (or two) Sebastian needs to be highlighted for his little speech on page 282. It was so perfectly him. Be prepared to laugh, cry, mourn, and celebrate.… (meer)

OMG!! This book has taken me through all the emotions and networked the past in the Drake brothers' world into a cohesive, complete plot that has come to the pausing point with Alistair's unsanctioned clutch.
I have re-read the entire series to refresh for this book while not believing it would be possible to knit Raven's past into anything that would work or be believable - but they did it! Not only was this accomplished but it was done so well it should be a 6/5

I did not know how much I needed to read Peregrine's story. I love the way the author tied the past and the present together into one complete story. The characters are smoothly and fully developed, the plot is not only interesting, but well-paced, and the worldbuilding is solid and consistent.
I was moved to near tears and felt the pain of the story along with the joy.
I have to admit I was a bit surprised as some of the lower reviews indicated that character development and plot were sacrificed for non-ending sex, but now I am wondering what they read as that is simply not true.… (meer)
