Korte biografie
Born and raised in the middle of the American Midwest, Dennis Sharpe has been a writer as long as he can remember. His mother has told many people about the fantasy and science fiction stories he'd write on scraps of paper, and staple together as his 'books', before he'd attended his first day of formal education.
He has spent many late nights at diners and dives, drinking coffee with a tattered notebook to put a voice to his feelings of himself and the world around him, and other worlds that can exist only in fiction. The voices in his head don't ever stop talking to him, and so sooner or later he has to get out onto a page all that they've filled him up with.
Inspired by Neil Gaiman, Kurt Vonnegut, Frank Miller, Chrissie Pappas, Charles Bukowski, Stephen King, Issac Asimov, and countless classic literary influences, Dennis continues with the ability to write what at a glance might seem absurd, but quickly begins to resonate with our own thoughts and emotions. He writes people we know, love we've known and lost (and found again), and places we've been in our lives and in our heads. Even his fictional characters and worlds carry enough of the grey areas we experience in day-to-day life, to let us find the truth in his words, no matter how fantastic.
These days he can be found still writing, drinking coffee with friends, or spending time with his children (the true joys of his life), in Western Kentucky.

Good characterizations

Pretty memorable characters that were well drawn. I didn't always like the main character, but it was a good read.

What can I say about this book that people who has had the pleasure of reading it haven't already said?
This story is just as amazing as the trailer it has for it if not more so. The narration and characters are vibrant and almost instantly come alive while the story's read.

Veronica has been through so much crap her entire life, and even after she meets Jules and he turns her, one would think her troubles would all be over. Not exactly. If anything in the time Jules turned her and then seemingly abandoned her, everyone and their mother decides she needs to die.

The result? A fast paced Thriller with a paranormal twist in this first of The Coming Storm series by Dennis Sharpe.
This is the third book by Dennis I've had the honor of being asked to review, this is however the first full length novel of his I've read.

Aside from a handful of minor errors here and there, this story is impeccably written and definitely well thought out.
Dennis brings his almost signature style and flare to another masterpiece that will run an array of emotion through the reader.

There will be times of sorrow and many times of chuckles. This is definitely a book a reader will not regret picking up.

This book does leave off with a mild cliffhanger. While this adventure is over, we readers are assured that we have not heard the last of Veronica or her friends. I look forward to the next book.

I'm looking forward to book 2's release and hope it's just as enthralling as this one was.
I give this book 5 of 5 paws

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved the combination of paranormal characters, especially the mix of zombies and vampires, my favourite. What you don't expect is that Veronica is a madam, who sells herself to whet you appetite and calm her needs.

I found the blend of the life and the lifestyle given to her by Jules an interesting one. Though it is now a slightly more popular combination, this book was one of the first to blend them seamlessly, especially when it was first published.

Veronica was a very strong character, both in will and in her actions. Though that sometimes means that tricky situations can become trickier, I loved it. I am always fond of lady vamp characters, when they are main characters, because they get away from the idea that there is a 'count' in charge of them or that they should bow to a male leader. They may still be under a male leader, which I like, but they have a fieriness about them that makes them brave, interesting and someone that it is fun to read about, as a woman.

I also rather enjoyed the other characters in this book. I found that each of them was likeable in their own way, or I could hate them, but I was given the perfect amount of detail, personality and even physical description to be able to know and decide for myself about them. I also really felt as though I got close to each of them, almost as if I was part of their lives.

One of my favourite things about this book is the narrative. It also allowed me to feel part of the story. I was able to feel as though I was Veronica, which was brilliant!

Overall, the writing style, pace, character depth and story line made this book brilliant. I really enjoyed reading it and cannot wait for the second book. I liked that there was a difference, a change in pace and a great combination of paranormal beings in this book. I highly recommend this read. It is enjoyable, fun and highly addicting.
