So I guess the prepper stuff was okay, with all the description of gear and methods but eesh the dialogue and exposition was so formal and stilted. They didn't feel like real characters and I didn't warm to them at all.
Well, at least it was short.

This is the final book in the series and the storyline wrapped everything up nicely. It was, however, slower-paced than the first two books with fewer action scenes. The final 10% of the story will keep readers on the edge of their seats waiting to see if two of the main characters survive after the final battle. The author kept my interest throughout the series and left the door open for a sequel sometime in the future as this series only covered the beginning of the hardship. It would be interesting to see how everyone fared a couple of years in the future.

I was also disappointed in the number of typos found throughout the book. Most are real words but used in the wrong context and missing words. All in all, I'd recommend this series for anyone interested in learning what needs to be done in preparation for an apocalypse.

In this second book of the series, the author tells the story from the kid's POV since their separation from their father in addition to Lila's quest to locate her children. At Lila's brother-in-law's home, she finds out that her husband and mistress left the kids behind in the city. Brad's girlfriend is guilt-stricken and asked to accompany Lila on her search for the kids. She reluctantly agrees, and the two of them head toward the city.

There are some 'edge of your seat' times in both stories and readers will not be able to stop reading until the confrontations are over. Of course, this installment ends in another cliff-hanger. I did purchase the final book in the series to see how the story finally concludes.

I would have given 5 stars and didn't because of the number of typos in the story which caused me some pause before moving on. They were real words but used in the wrong context. It's a good series, so far, and I'd recommend it to all.
