A great story! A youngster may not see all of the lessons this book addresses, but it would open areas of conversation. I enjoy the "shiny" additions.

This is a sweet and slow paced story about how manners can work better than sneaking, stealing, or being pushy. This would be a cute story to read with a little one, and the illustrations are the same muted earth tones as seen on the cover. Slugs are rarely featured as main characters, let alone the hero of the story, and there is a small scientific entry about slugs at the back of the book to help readers learn more about them. The beginning is a little strange and doesn't quite connect with the rest of the story, which is why I rated only 4 stars.… (meer)

A sweet book about a slug that uses its own unique talents for the collective good. A wonderful choice to use a slug as the main character, which in comparison to all the creatures of the world, is unappreciated in a way people with quiet talents can relate. It has great illustrations, and I especially appreciate the decorations on the end pages and science note. I gave it 4 stars because its story opening is disjointed for the direction the story goes in.
