"It turns out that the genetic instructions themselves are influenced by other inputs. Genes are constantly activated and deactivated by environmental stimuli, nutrition, hormones, nerve impulses, and other genes "
Het betekent vooral dat doelmatig oefenen je genen/hersenen beinvloeden en: "In recent years, a mountain of scientific evidence has emerged that overwhelmingly suggests a completely different paradigm: not talent scarcity, but latent talent abundance."

- BEWARE THE DARK SIDE (BITTERNESS AND BLAME
- IDENTIFY YOUR LIMITATIONS—AND THEN IGNORE THEM
- DELAY GRATIFICATION AND RESIST CONTENTEDNESS
- HAVE HEROES
- FIND A MENTOR
Parenting does matter. There is much parents can do to encourage their kids to become achievers, and there are some important mistakes to avoid. Evenzo is het duidelijk dat er ook veel is dat ouders niet weten te beinvloeden. "To say that there is much we don’t control in our lives is a dramatic understatement, roughly on the order of saying that the universe is a somewhat large place". Maar, en dat is vooral de boodschap van dit boek, het begint met ambitie of uitdaging.… (meer)
