It took me a little while to get into this book, but once hooked I did like it. The story is SO imaginative - I often re-read passages to get a better mental picture of the worlds Shepherd was creating. I had some trouble imagining the creatures, but his descriptions were enough to see them. I can only imagine what a movie art director could do with this book. Shepherd did an amazing job of tying everything together in the end. I would recommend this book to a science fiction fan.

I received a copy of this book as an Early Reviewer.
This is the story of a boy named Dave whose mother was involved somehow with an alien. She leaves the boy, but he grows up to become an alien/UFO hunter (?) working for the Ministry Of Defense's UFO hotline.
Before you know it, he's up to his neck in aliens who are very interested in his DNA. Mother had an affair with an alien...why would anyone want his DNA? Hmmmm.... The aliens sound as though most of them had been extras in the Star Wars night club scene. There is even one named Kheni, yes, Kenny. He subsequently dies and we are left to exclaim, Oh no! They killed Kheni! Dave is rescued by a group of aliens who work for the Alien Liberation Front. Yep. ALF. They work for ALF.
The story goes on to alien planet exploration, fist fights, weapons fights, the usual action and fun.
I do recommend this book. The pace is great. The action well done, and the humor reminds you to not take it all too seriously. The author ends it in a way that indicates sequels. Don't they all.

I really enjoyed this story. Well written with good twists and turns, characters clearly defined, a good mystery, life and galaxy threats but lightly written. Ending not my favourite but overall a great read which would be a great movie!
More please Mr Sheperd.

Sex, Bugs & UFOs by Warren A. Shepherd. Morrissey, former UFO investigator, never knew anything about his father and was abandoned by his mum at the age of 7. When he's dragged back into the UFO investigation game, he's suddenly a target for intergalactic thugs and gets dragged halfway across the universe. Who was his father? What happened to his mum? What is it about this kind of nebbishy guy that everyone wants? This was pretty fun, if a bit hard to swallow sometimes. Well-written. Reviewed from a free copy received through the LibraryThing Early Reviewer Program in return for an honest review.… (meer)
